JRHMS SMO Recruitment 2026: Bid for 306 Specialist Doctor Posts at Jharkhand District and Sub-Divisional Hospitals

Good news for specialist doctors. The Government of Jharkhand and the Jharkhand Rural Health Mission Society (JRHMS) have opened 306 Specialist Medical Officer posts through two advertisements that run as one bidding drive. There are 200 Non-Teaching SMO posts and 106 NHM SMO posts at district (Sadar) and sub-divisional hospitals. If you hold an MBBS with a PG degree or diploma and want government jobs in Jharkhand, this is worth a close look. There is no fixed pay scale: you quote your own monthly fee, up to ₹3,00,000 per month.

Online applications open on 8 October 2026 and close on 31 October 2026 at 11:59 PM. This is not a normal exam-based recruitment. You pick up to three hospitals and bid for each, and the lowest acceptable bid usually wins the post. So your bid matters as much as your degree. This guide from GovtJobsAlert.in explains the specialities, the bidding rules, the tie-break order and the conditions that can end your candidature. Please read it fully before you quote.

What is JRHMS SMO Recruitment 2026? Key Highlights

Both advertisements are signed by the Mission Director, National Health Mission, Jharkhand. They share the same dates, age limit, bidding rules and portal. The engagement is purely contractual.

How Many Vacancies are in JRHMS Specialist Medical Officer Recruitment 2026?

The advertisements list vacancies facility by facility in Annexure-I. The speciality totals below are the count of those facility rows. Neither advertisement prints a category-wise split for UR, SC, ST, BC or EWS, so check the reserved-category rule in the selection section.

The NHM annexure shows 2 Cardiologist seats at Sadar Hospital, Ranchi, but Cardiology is not in that advertisement’s qualification list. If that is your speciality, read the NHM advertisement carefully before you bid.

The real choice here is not the post but the hospital. Each annexure row names a district and a facility, either a Sadar Hospital (DH) or a sub-divisional hospital (SDH). Open both PDFs, find the rows for your speciality, and note which districts actually have a seat for you. Some specialities have many seats spread across the state, while others have only a handful. Picking three facilities where you would genuinely live and work for three years is far better than picking the three biggest towns.

Who Can Apply for JRHMS SMO Recruitment 2026? Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

You need an MBBS degree plus a PG Degree or Diploma in the concerned speciality from an NMC-recognised institution, along with valid registration with the appropriate Medical Council. This is a strong opening in medical and healthcare government jobs for post-graduate doctors in the listed specialities.

🎂 Not sure if you meet the age criteria? Use our free Age Calculator for Government Exams to find your exact age on the cut-off date and instantly check your eligibility — including any age relaxation you qualify for. →

Neither advertisement prints any category-wise age relaxation, so treat 64 years as the upper limit unless a later notice says otherwise. The wide age band is good news for senior specialists and recently retired doctors who still want to serve in a district hospital.

What is the Salary for JRHMS Specialist Medical Officer 2026?

There is no fixed pay scale here. Your pay comes from your own bid.

ComponentDetail
Monthly remunerationThe amount you quote for each facility
Maximum bid₹3,00,000 per month per facility
IncentiveOn health insurance claims generated and settled through your services (Govt Sankalp No. 58(21) dated 11/04/2025, as amended)

The selected SMO gets fixed monthly emoluments as set in the terms of engagement, plus the insurance-claim incentive. Your quoted bid is treated as final, so think it through before you submit.

Tenure TermDetail
NaturePurely contractual, until a regular SMO is posted to that facility
AgreementInitially 3 years, co-terminus with the financial year, renewable by mutual consent
TransferThe allotted facility is non-transferable
Leaving3 months’ notice, or 3 months’ remuneration in lieu
Termination1 month’s notice or 1 month’s remuneration if services are unsatisfactory
ResidenceGovernment accommodation if available, otherwise within 3 km of the District Hospital

The engagement does not give any claim to regular appointment, absorption, seniority or other benefits of regular government employees.

What is the Selection Process for JRHMS SMO Recruitment 2026?

Selection works facility by facility through the financial bid. These are the steps the advertisements prescribe.

StageDetail
BidChoose up to 3 facilities in one form and quote a separate monthly amount for each (max ₹3,00,000)
ShortlistingFacility-wise, subject to eligibility
L-1The lowest acceptable monthly bid for a facility is L-1
Tie-break 1PG Degree preferred over Diploma
Tie-break 2Greater relevant experience
Tie-break 3Date of birth
Tie-break 4Other criteria of the Dept. of Personnel, Administrative Reforms and Rajbhasha
Reserved categoriesPreference to PwD and reserved categories as per Government rules, including negotiation at the L-1 rate
Reserved quotaIf a reserved quota is unfilled, the L2 bidder of that category is offered the post at the L-1 amount, then L3, L4
Not joiningIf L-1 does not join within 30 days, the Department may offer it to the next eligible bidder
Before joiningFurther document verification or medical examination may be prescribed

The Department may reject any quoted rate it finds unacceptable, and selection does not confer any right to appointment or continued engagement. Quoting very low just to win can hurt you if you cannot work at that amount for three years.

A simple way to think about your bid: work out the monthly amount at which you would happily move to that district, keeping in mind the insurance-claim incentive on top. Quote that, not a number you hope will beat everyone else. If you belong to a reserved category or are a PwD candidate, remember the rule above: you may still be offered the post at the L-1 amount even if your own bid was not the lowest.
