If you have played for India or your state, the Railway Recruitment Cell, South Eastern Railway (RRC SER) has 54 sports quota posts for you. The notice covers Group C Level 4/5 (5 openings), Group C Level 2/3 (16 openings) and Group D Level 1 (33 openings). These are Railway Jobs open only to players in the listed disciplines, and anywhere on South Eastern Railway can be your posting.
Applications are not live yet. The online window runs from 31 October 2026 to 30 November 2026 (23:59 hrs). The notice gives no direct apply link, so watch the RRC SER website from 31 October. Read the sports norms for your level first, because the minimum achievement is what decides your eligibility.

No post is reserved for SC, ST, OBC or EWS. Selection is on overall merit within each notified discipline, whatever your community. Vacancies are fixed per discipline and playing position, so apply only in the one you have the achievement for.

RRC SER Sports Quota Eligibility 2026-27

You must hold the qualification when you apply. Candidates who are appearing or awaiting final results are not eligible, and no relaxation in educational qualification is allowed. For Technician-III under Group C, the minimum is 10th pass. Apply from the Graduate, 12th pass or 10th pass side as your level allows.
Minimum Sports Norms
Your achievement must be earned on or after 1 April 2024, and the championship must be run by a federation recognised by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports at that time.

A player who meets the norms of a higher grade can also be recruited into a lower grade. But such a player gets promotion or re-appointment to the higher grade only on achievements earned after joining the Railways. So if you are a degree holder with a senior national medal, do not ignore the Level 2/3 and Level 1 rows in your game, because they may be the seat that is actually vacant.
Some disciplines have extra rules. Volleyball certificates from events held by the Volleyball Federation of India or its affiliated units up to 28 October 2025 and after 21 April 2026 are not counted, except National Championship results from 29 October 2025 to 21 April 2026. Body Building results from the Indian Body Builders Federation are not considered. Cricket, Golf, Chess, Table Tennis, Hockey, Archery, Athletics and Rifle Shooting have their own additional norms in the notice, so read the PDF for your game.

No age relaxation is allowed for any category. Age proof is your Matriculation (or equivalent) certificate or your Birth Certificate. Check your exact age on 1 January 2027 before you plan anything.
RRC SER Sports Quota Salary and Pay Level

All sit in Pay Band 1 (Rs 5,200 to 20,200) of the 6th CPC. The notice does not list basic pay or allowances, so check the 7th CPC pay matrix for your level.

Think of it as a 100-mark merit list built for each discipline separately. Half the marks (50) are for your recognised sports achievement, 40 for your performance on the trial day and 10 for your education. Marks are out of 100, and the trial score needs at least 25 out of 40 to qualify.

If two players score the same in a discipline, the younger candidate gets preference. Trial dates and venues are not fixed yet and will be shared on the website. Railway can change, postpone or cancel trials.

Pay online by Internet Banking, Debit Card or Credit Card. Cash, cheque, money order or demand draft means rejection. The refund is made after bank charges and goes to the paying account or a bank account you give in the form. The notice also speaks of fee waiver for minority and EBC candidates through its annexures, so read the fee line on the portal before paying.
Conditions That Can Cost You the Post

SC and ST candidates get free second-class rail travel to attend the trials. RRC SER has appointed no agent or coaching centre, so do not pay anyone who promises a selection.

Use the days before 31 October to get your documents in order, because the uploads go with the application form. Your community certificate is needed too, even though no post is reserved, and an OBC candidate must upload a Non-Creamy Layer certificate in the Central Government format issued within the last one year. Keep these ready: a 3.5 cm x 3.5 cm colour photo (JPG, up to 70 KB), a signature and thumb impression on white paper (JPG, 10 to 40 KB), your Matric certificate, educational certificate and sports certificates. Applications sent directly to RRC or by post will not be entertained, so apply only online, and do it well before 30 November.
