Educational Qualification

“O” Level equivalence follows the U.P. Government order dated 5 May 2022. For all posts, candidates who served two years in the Territorial Army or hold an NCC “B” certificate get preference when other things are equal.

You must be at least 21 years and not above 40 years on 1 July 2026. That means you should not be born before 2 July 1986 or after 1 July 2005.

What is the Selection Process for UPPSC RO ARO Recruitment 2026?
The final selection is made on the total marks in the Main (Written) Examination. The Preliminary Examination only screens candidates.

Minimum marks are 35% for SC/ST and 40% for all other categories in the Preliminary and Main examinations. Below this, you will not be placed in the merit list. In the Preliminary exam, each wrong answer costs one third (0.33) of that question’s marks. Marking more than one answer counts as wrong, and a blank answer carries no penalty. Research Scholars of the Chief Minister Fellowship Programme get extra weightage in the Main exam, from 1 to 7.5 marks depending on tenure and the paper’s maximum marks.

Hiding a pending criminal case or a conviction can also lead to rejection and debarment. Women’s reservation depends on a Special Appeal pending in the High Court.
How to Apply Online for UPPSC RO ARO Recruitment 2026?
This is a two-step process. First you need your OTR number, then you apply. Get your OTR at least 72 hours before you submit the form. Keep your OTR number, fee slip and printouts safe.
- Make your One Time Registration on the Commission’s OTR portal (otr.pariksha.nic.in) and get your OTR number. You cannot apply without it.
- Open the UPPSC website (link in Essential Links), go to “All Notifications/Advertisements”, then “Online Advertisements”, and click Apply.
- Choose “Authenticate with O.T.R.”, enter your OTR number and confirm with an OTP or your OTR password. Your personal details load automatically. Fill the essential qualification for your post.
- On the Applicant Dashboard, click “Submit Details” under Application Part-2 and mark Yes or No against each preferential qualification.
- Pay the fee through SBI MOPS by net banking, card or other payment modes, and save the transaction slip. If payment fails, use “Pending Payment” in the Candidate Dashboard.
- Take a printout of the final application form and keep it safe.
You can change your qualification details only once, until 3 December 2026. If you change your OTR details, sync them on the Dashboard. Reserved-category candidates must mention their category in the OTR, because the form picks it from there.
