What is the Eligibility for UPSSSC JE Electrical 2026?
Educational Qualification
Most posts need a 3-year Diploma in Electrical Engineering, but the exact wording differs by department:
| Post | Essential Qualification |
|---|---|
| Junior Engineer (Electrical) – PWD, DDU, RMLNLU, Prayagraj, Moradabad, Balrampur, Mirzapur universities | High School (UP Board) or equivalent, AND 3-year Diploma in Electrical Engineering from BTE UP or a Government-recognised equivalent |
| Junior Engineer (Electrical) – Maa Shakumbhari University | High School or equivalent, AND 3-year Diploma in Electrical Engineering from BTE UP or equivalent |
| Junior Engineer (Electrical) – Electrical Safety Directorate (both rows) | Diploma in Electrical Engineering from a Government-recognised university or institution, AND ability to read and write Hindi in Devanagari |
| Junior Engineer (Electrical) – UPSCIDCO | 3-year Diploma in Electrical Engineering or Government-recognised equivalent |
| Junior Engineer (Electrical) – UP Rajkiya Nirman Nigam (both rows) | Diploma in Engineering (Electrical) |
| Technical Assistant (Electrical) – Groundwater Department | 3-year Diploma in Electrical Engineering from BTE UP, or from an institution declared equivalent by Government |
| Research Assistant – RDTI Kanpur | Diploma in Electrical Engineering from a Government-recognised institute, AND two years teaching experience |
| Electrician – UPSRTC | Diploma in Electrical with an Electrical Supervisory Licence |
Preference: for most posts, candidates with at least 2 years in the Territorial Army or an NCC ‘B’ certificate get preference. The annexures also list equivalent diploma branches such as Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Electrical Power Systems and Power Systems Engineering, so check them before you rule yourself out.
Two conditions apply to everyone. You must have appeared in PET-2025 and hold its scorecard. And you must hold the qualification and its certificate by 27 November 2026. If your final-semester result is still pending on that date, you are not eligible, so plan honestly. Electrician aspirants should note the extra Electrical Supervisory Licence requirement; without it the UPSRTC post is closed to you even with a diploma.
