Educational Qualification

Branch-wise minimum percentages and stream restrictions are published in the detailed notification on the official AFCAT website. Broad outline:

  • Flying Branch: Graduation in any discipline with minimum 60% + Maths and Physics at 10+2 (minimum 50%) OR BE / B.Tech with minimum 60%.
  • Ground Duty (Technical) — Aeronautical Engineer (Electronics) & Aeronautical Engineer (Mechanical): BE / B.Tech in specified engineering streams with minimum 60% (or specified GATE score).
  • Ground Duty (Non-Technical): Graduation / Post Graduation in specified disciplines with minimum 60% (varies by sub-branch — Admin, Logistics, Accounts, Education, Meteorology, WS).

Age Limit (as on 1 July 2027)

  • Flying Branch: 20 – 24 years (DOB between 02 July 2003 and 01 July 2007). CPL holders of DGCA may avail relaxation up to 26 years (DOB between 02 July 2001 and 01 July 2007).
  • Ground Duty Technical & Non-Technical (AFCAT + GATE): 20 – 26 years (DOB between 02 July 2001 and 01 July 2007).

Marital Status: Candidates must be unmarried at the time of commencement of the course. Marriage during training is not permitted — a candidate who marries during training shall be discharged and liable to refund all expenditure incurred by the Government.

What is the Salary for AFCAT 02/2026 Officers?

Selected candidates are commissioned as Flying Officers in Pay Level 10 of the 7th Central Pay Commission Matrix.

  • Starting Basic Pay: Rs 56,100 per month
  • Pay Scale Range: Rs 56,100 – Rs 1,77,500
  • Military Service Pay (MSP): Rs 15,500 per month
  • Flight Cadet Stipend (during training): Rs 56,100 fixed per month for the 1-year training period at AFA Dundigal

What is the Selection Process for AFCAT 02/2026?

AFCAT follows a rigorous 4-stage selection process:

  1. Online AFCAT Examination — Computer-based at various centres across India. EKT (Engineering Knowledge Test) is additionally conducted for Ground Duty (Technical) candidates appearing through AFCAT.
