Salary & Benefits
Selected candidates will receive attractive pay and allowances:
- Training Stipend: ₹ 14,600/- per month during the initial training period.
- Post Training Pay: On successful completion of training, placement in Level 3 of the Defence Pay Matrix (₹ 21,700 – ₹ 69,100).
- Allowances: Military Service Pay (MSP) of ₹ 5,200/- per month plus Dearness Allowance (DA) as applicable.
- Promotion: Prospects exist up to Master Chief Petty Officer-I (Level 8 Pay Matrix: ₹ 47,600 – ₹ 1,51,100 plus MSP & DA). Opportunities for becoming a Commissioned Officer are also available based on performance and qualification.

Selection Process
The selection involves multiple stages:
- Stage I: INET (Indian Navy Entrance Test):
- A computer-based test with 100 objective-type (multiple-choice) questions.
- Sections: English, Science, Biology, and General Awareness.
- Standard: 10+2 level. Syllabus available on the website.
- Duration: 1 hour.
- Language: Bilingual (Hindi & English).
- Marking: 1 mark per question, negative marking of 0.25 for wrong answers.
- Candidates must pass in all sections and aggregate.
- Shortlisting for Stage II will be based on INET marks, done state-wise.
- Note: Verified Sponsor candidates and NCC ‘C’ certificate holders are exempted from Stage I INET.
- Stage II: PFT, Written Examination, and Recruitment Medical:
- Physical Fitness Test (PFT): Mandatory qualification. Standards include: 1.6 Km run in 6 min 30 sec, 20 squats, 15 push-ups, 15 bent-knee sit-ups. PFT is undertaken at the candidate’s own risk.
- Written Examination: For PFT-qualified candidates only. Similar pattern to Stage I (100 objective questions, 1 hour, English, Science, Biology, General Awareness, 10+2 standard). Passing in all sections and aggregate is required.
- Recruitment Medical Examination: Conducted for candidates qualifying PFT. Candidates found unfit can appeal within 5 days at a designated military hospital. Minimum height 157 cms. Visual standards: Uncorrected 6/12, 6/12; Corrected 6/6, 6/6; Colour Perception Pass. Tattoo restrictions apply.
- Provisional Select List: Prepared based on performance in Stage II written exam, subject to qualifying PFT and Recruitment Medical. Merit list is prepared state-wise.
- Pre-Enrolment Medicals: Final medical check-up at INS Chilka before induction.
