One thing the tally hides: all 211 Junior Pharmacist posts, and every Junior Staff Nurse, FMPHW, MMPHW, Junior Lab. Technician, Junior Ophthalmic Technician, Junior Theatre Technician, Health Educator, Sanitary Inspector, Para Medical Assistant and Senior Canning Attendant post, are Kashmir-division cadre. Jammu-division candidates have exactly three options here — Horticulture Technician Grade-IV (Rajouri, Poonch), Junior Laboratory Assistant (Div. Jammu, 21 posts) and Supervisor (UT cadre, 3 posts).
Do keep in mind that JKSSB has stated the actual number of posts may increase or decrease before or during the selection process, and that this notification is subject to the outcome of any writ petition or O.A. pending before a competent court. Only one online application is allowed per item number, and preferences for cadre and department cannot be changed once submitted. If you actually appear in the exam more than once for the same item, your candidature is cancelled and you are debarred from JKSSB examinations. Educational Qualification
Each post has its own qualification, and most are within reach of Matric and 10+2 candidates holding the right diploma:
- Junior Pharmacist: minimum 10+2 with Science and a Degree or Diploma in Pharmacy from a recognised institute
- Junior Staff Nurse: Matric or above with Science and a Diploma in General Nursing Midwifery
- Junior Lab. Technician: Matric or above with a minimum two-year diploma in Lab Technician, or a degree in Lab Technology, from a recognised Institute, State Medical Faculty or the J&K State Para Medical Council
- Junior Theatre Technician: Matric or above with a Degree or Diploma in Operational Theatre Technology
- Junior Ophthalmic Technician: Matric or above with a Degree or Diploma in Ophthalmic Technician course
- Para Medical Assistant: 10+2 with a Diploma in Para Medical Assistant Course from a recognised institute
- FMPHW: Matric or above with Science and a Diploma in FMPHW
- MMPHW: Matric or above with a minimum one-year Diploma in MMPHW from a recognised Institute, State Medical Faculty or State Para Medical Council
- Sanitary Inspector: 10+2 or above with a minimum two-year Diploma in Sanitation and Public Health from a recognised Institute, State Medical Faculty or the J&K State Para Medical Council
- Health Educator: Graduation with Science from a recognised university
- Junior Laboratory Assistant: a Bachelor’s degree carrying the nomenclature of B.Sc. in Physics, Chemistry, Biology (Zoology and Botany) or Mathematics, or their derivative subjects. A PG Diploma in a professional laboratory course is only a preference used at equal merit — not a requirement — and if you hold one it must be of at least one year’s duration from a recognised institution
- Horticulture Technician Grade-IV: 10+2 with one year Basic Horticulture training
- Senior Canning Attendant: Matric or equivalent with six months training in Fruit Preservation
- Supervisor: Matriculation or equivalent from a recognised university or board
One extra condition applies only to Senior Canning Attendant (item 104) and Horticulture Technician Grade-IV (items 105 to 116) — 46 posts in all. Your training certificate must have been issued by a Central, State or UT Government department or institution, a statutory or UGC-recognised university (or its affiliated institution), a State or Central Agricultural / Horticultural University, an ICAR institute or an ICAR-NAEAB accredited institution or programme, or another institution specifically recognised by a competent Government or statutory authority. A certificate from a private coaching centre will not do.

Domicile Requirement
This is compulsory — you must be a Domicile of the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir and hold a valid Domicile Certificate issued by the competent authority on or before 9 October 2026, which is the last date of application.

Watch the two similar names: Junior Lab. Technician (Health and Medical Education, Level-4) and Junior Laboratory Assistant (Higher Education, Level-2) are different posts with different qualifications.
The Sanitary Inspector post at Level-6D (₹35,800 – ₹1,13,200) carries the highest pay level in this advertisement. It is a Division Kashmir cadre post with 14 vacancies, and needs 10+2 or above plus a minimum two-year Diploma in Sanitation and Public Health from a recognised Institute, State Medical Faculty or the J&K State Para Medical Council.

What is the Selection Process for JKSSB Advt 08/2026?
The process is refreshingly simple — there is no interview and no physical test. The Board has printed the same selection criterion against all 78 item numbers.
- Written / OMR examination — selection is made purely on merit obtained in the written examination.
- Document verification — shortlisted candidates are called to produce originals.
Exam Scheme
- The paper consists of objective type multiple choice questions.
- Questions will be set in the English language only.
- There is negative marking — one-fourth of the marks assigned to a question is deducted for every wrong answer.
- The syllabus will be notified separately on the JKSSB website, so keep checking for it.
- PwBD candidates may avail a scribe and/or compensatory time of 20 minutes per hour, but only if you have ticked PwBD in the online application form itself — it cannot be claimed later. You must produce the medical certificate in the Annexure-B format plus the Annexure-C undertaking, and you have to arrange your own scribe, who must be of a lower grade of education than you and must not hold more than the minimum qualification prescribed for the post.
The number of questions, total marks and exam duration are not printed in this notification, so wait for the official syllabus notice. If your degree is from a university, college or institute outside the UT of J&K (other than a Central University) — relevant for Health Educator and Junior Laboratory Assistant applicants — you must also produce a Bonafide Certificate on the Board’s prescribed format at document verification.
How to Apply Online for JKSSB Advt 08/2026?
Applications are accepted online only. JKSSB will publish the exact portal details separately on its website, so follow these steps:
- Visit the JKSSB official website (direct link given in the Essential Links section below) and open the online application portal once it goes live on 10 September 2026.
- Fill your details, writing your name, date of birth, father’s name and mother’s name exactly as in your Matriculation certificate.
- Carefully choose the item numbers you want to compete for — you will be considered only for the items you actually applied for and are eligible for. If you apply for several items, indicate your order of preference clearly, because the final allotment of post, service and cadre is made on a merit-cum-preference basis.
- Upload your live photograph and signature (10 KB to 20 KB).
- If you are claiming a reserved category, upload your category certificate (max 100 KB PDF) — it must be valid as on 9 October 2026 and in the exact format prescribed by the relevant Act/SO, or the application is summarily rejected, and no second chance to upload documents is given. Also upload the qualification and experience certificates required for your post, self-attested (max 100 KB PDF).
- Pay the fee online through net banking, credit card or debit card.
- Submit before 9 October 2026 and take a printout of the form — you have to produce it at document verification. Do not post or hand-deliver a hard copy to the SSB office.
If you are already in government service, there is an extra step. Tick the in-service option while filling the online form, then send a printout with the certificate at the end of the form — duly filled, signed and stamped — through proper channel via your Head of Department, who must forward it to the Secretary, Services Selection Board on or before the last date of document verification.
Please be extra careful while filling the form. No change or correction of any particular will be entertained under any circumstances once submitted. Applications with a blurred or illegible photograph or signature are rejected outright.
