Eligibility Criteria
Candidates must meet the following eligibility requirements as of the notification date (unless specified otherwise):
- Educational Qualification (as on 06.04.2025):
- Must have passed VIII Standard or its equivalent.
- Candidates should not possess qualifications higher than the XII Standard (Higher Secondary) or its equivalent. An undertaking must be provided stating this. Suppression of higher qualifications will lead to disqualification and potential penal action.
- Age Limit (as on 01.07.2025):
- Minimum Age: 18 years (Should not have been born after 01.07.2007).
- Maximum Age:
- SC/SC(A)/ST/MBC&DC/BC/BCM & Destitute Widows of all castes: 37 years (Should not have been born before 02.07.1988).
- Others/Unreserved categories (including candidates from other States/UTs): 32 years (Should not have been born before 02.07.1993).
- In-Service candidates (Full-time members/probationers of Madras High Court Service or TN State Judicial Ministerial Service): 47 years (Should not have been born before 02.07.1978).
- Age Relaxation:
- Differently Abled Persons (Benchmark disability >= 40%): Up to 10 years relaxation over the prescribed maximum age limit.
- Ex-Servicemen: Maximum age 50 years (UR) / 55 years (Reserved Categories) as on 01.07.2025.
- Discharged/Serving Temporary Tamil Nadu Government Employees: Can deduct the actual period of service (up to the notification date) from their age, provided they haven’t completed 42 years as of 01.07.2025.
- Note: Candidates from states/UTs other than Tamil Nadu and Puducherry will be treated as ‘Unreserved Category’ regardless of their community status in their home state/UT.

Salary & Benefits
Selected candidates will be placed in Pay Level 1 of the revised pay scale:
- Pay Scale: Rs. 15,700 – Rs. 58,100 per month.
- Allowances: Plus Special Compensatory Allowance as applicable.
- Other benefits as per Tamil Nadu Government norms.
Selection Process
The selection procedure involves multiple stages:
- Common Written Examination (Max Marks: 65):
- Duration: 90 minutes.
- Type: Objective Type Questions (65 questions, 1 mark each, no negative marking).
- Structure:
- Part-A: Tamil Eligibility Test (25 Marks, Min Qualifying: 10 Marks) OR General English (for eligible PwD candidates). Marks are qualifying only, not counted for ranking.
- Part-B: Basic Knowledge (General knowledge, current affairs, basic arithmetic, housekeeping, hygiene, etc.) (40 Marks, Min Qualifying: 10 Marks). Marks considered for shortlisting.
- Syllabus: Up to 8th Standard level (TN State Govt Syllabus).
- Language: Part-B will be bilingual (English & Tamil).
- Exam Centres: Chennai and/or other places decided by the High Court.
- Skill Test (Max Marks: 40, Min Qualifying: 10 Marks):
- Shortlisting Ratio: 1:4 (if vacancies >= 5) or 1:5 (if vacancies <= 4), based on Part-B written exam marks and reservation rules.
- Tests specific skills based on the post (e.g., cleaning for Sweeper/Sanitary Worker, gardening skills for Gardener/Waterman, security duties for Watchman).
- Venue: Chennai.
- Certificate Verification:
- Shortlisting Ratio: 1:2 (if vacancies >= 5) or 1:3 (if vacancies <= 4), based on Skill Test marks and reservation rules.
- Weightage: 2 marks per year of work experience (max 20 marks) for NMRs who worked in residences or persons with similar experience (requires specific certificates).
- Venue: Chennai.
Final Selection: Based on combined marks in Part-B of the Written Exam, Skill Test, and Certificate Verification (including weightage), following merit and reservation rules.
