Eligibility Criteria

Librarian & Librarian cum Research Assistant

  • Educational Qualification:
    • Bachelor of Library and Information Science or its equivalent Degree from a University recognized by the Government. 
    • Preferably Degree in Law. 
    • Certificate regarding basic knowledge of computer as prescribed by the State Government from time to time. 
    • Sufficient Knowledge of English, Gujarati, and Hindi Language. 
  • Experience Required:
    • Candidate must have 02 years of experience working in any well-organized Library after obtaining a degree. 
  • Age Limit (as on the last date for submitting Online Application):
    • Minimum 21 years and not more than 37 years. 
    • Age Relaxation:
      • Unreserved / SC / EWS Candidates (Women): 05 Years
      • ST/SEBC Candidates (Women): 05 Years
      • Persons with Benchmark Disabilities: 10 Years
      • Ex-Servicemen: Actual Service rendered plus 03 Years
      • Employees working in the State Government: 05 Years OR to the extent of equal number of years for which service has been put in by him/her, whichever is less.
    • The Upper Age Limit for any Candidate under any Category/Class shall NOT exceed 45 Years. 

Assistant Librarian

  • Educational Qualification:
    • M. Lib./ Master in Library and Information Science. 
    • A Candidate must possess a Certificate with respect to Basic Knowledge of Computer as prescribed by the State Government from time to time. 
  • Experience Required:
    • Minimum 01-year experience in the Central Government or State Government or Government Organization or Public Sector Undertaking or Reputed Organization / Company. 
  • Age Limit (as on the last date for submitting Online Application):
    • Minimum 18 years and not more than 35 years. 
    • Age Relaxation:
      • Women Candidates: 05 Years
      • Persons with Benchmark Disability (PwBD): 10 Years
      • Ex-Servicemen: Actual service rendered plus 03 Years
      • Employees working in the Subordinate Courts or any other High Court: 05 Years OR to the extent of equal number of years for which service has been put in by him/her,1 whichever is less.
    • The Upper Age Limit for any Candidate under any Category/Class shall NOT exceed 45 Years.

Salary & Benefits

  • Librarian & Librarian cum Research Assistant: Pay Matrix of Rs.25,500-81,100/- plus usual allowance as per the rules. 
  • Assistant Librarian: Pay Matrix of Rs.44,900-1,42,400/- plus usual allowances as per the rules. 

Selection Process

Librarian & Librarian cum Research Assistant

The selection process will consist of:

  1. Main Written Examination (Objective Type-MCQs): 100 Marks 
    • Syllabus: Library Science, English Language, General Knowledge (History, Geography, Science, Current Affairs), Logical Reasoning and Analytical Ability, Legal knowledge (CrPC, CPC, IPC, Evidence Act, Constitution of India), Basic Knowledge of Computer Application. 
    • Language: English only. 
    • Negative Marking: 0.33 Mark for each Wrong/Multiple Answer. 
    • Qualifying Marks: Minimum 45% for ST, SEBC & PwBD; Minimum 50% for all other Candidates. 
  2. Viva-voce Test (Oral Interview): 40 Marks 
    • Qualifying Marks: Minimum 40%. The Select List & Centralized Wait-List shall be prepared on the basis of Aggregate Marks obtained in the Main Written Examination and Viva-voce Test. 

Assistant Librarian

The selection process will consist of:

  1. Main Written Examination (Objective Type-MCQs): 100 Marks

    • Qualifying Marks: Minimum 40%. The Select List shall be prepared on the basis of Aggregate Marks obtained by the Candidates in the Main Written Examination (60% Weightage) and Marks obtained in Viva-voce Test.

  2. Refer to the “How to Apply – User Manual” available on the portal for detailed instructions. 
  3. Fill in the online application form with accurate details.
  4. For the Librarian posts in District Judiciary, candidates will have to opt for three districts of their choice. 
  5. Pay the application fee through the “Print Application/Pay Fees” Button via SBI e-Pay. 
  6. Submit the confirmed online application before the closing date.
